VERB + –ING (GERUNDS AND PARTICIPLES)
The –ing form is used in three ways: a) The –ing form is used as a verb (present participle). EXAMPLE: Adam is jogging in the park. / Eve saw a pickpocket stealing a wallet. b) The –ing form is used as a noun (gerund) EXAMPLE: Everyone in the family likes cooking. c) The –ing form is used as an adjective. EXAMPLE: They managed to save the drowning child. |
